The kids treat the drivers like they are superheroes and Shea said that makes her feel accomplished.
You get to see, first hand, all these kids that look up to you." "They get to come down on the floor and meet us, get to talk to us and take pictures of us. "It's the fans, the pit parties," Shea said. Shes said driving is an amazing part of her job, but driving comes in second to her favorite part of the sport. He can see me succeed and that's what I want." She said while she was driving for fun, and she still has fun, her passion has changed. I do this because I have a passion for it, but yet he looks at me like, 'Wow, my mom can achieve anything.' " "Just from driving in 2015, 20 to driving now, my drive for the sport is totally different," Shea said. Now having a son, Shea said a lot of things have changed for her life, even in her professional world. "I'm super good at talking and interviewing," Shea said. "I was a natural at it."Īnother aspect of the sport that Shea said she's good at is speaking in front of people and interacting with the public. She competed in other sports including gymnastics, dance and basketball, but racing was different. "I've always just had knack for adrenaline." "When I turned 15, I started racing ATVs and did that until I was 23 or 24," Shea said. The world of racing is not new to Shea, who was raised in motorsports. "Then I got the phone call and was like 'oh my gosh,' " Shea said. "This is my fifth week back driving behind the wheel."ĭriving wasn't something she thought she would be doing again after having her son. "Then I got married and had a baby," Shea said. Shea said she began training in 2014 and drove the Scooby-Doo truck until 2017. "It is the loudest excitement you will ever witness on four wheels," Shea said.
Saturday at TPEC, 800 The Midway, and will feature trucks from across the country including Bigfoot, Dirt Crew and Quad Chaos.īailey Shea, the driver of Quad Chaos, said the event is something that needs to be seen and heard to truly comprehend.
